Meru Networks AP400
The new Meru Networks AP400 is the enabler of this scenario. It offers 3 dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios that can be configured in any combination you like. Each radio offers 3x3 MIMO with 3 data streams offering 450Mbps per radio or over 1.3Gbps per AP. Moreover, the AP offers a USB extension slot for a fourth radio pumping total capacity to over 1.8Gbps and over 500 simultaneous users per AP! Another use case for the USB port would be the addition of a 3G backhaul in order to implement the AP anywhere you'd like.

With software configurable operating modes designed to reduce and ultimately eliminate wired edge switches, these access points define the new campus Mobile Edge - an edge network architecture that is purpose built for mobility, drastically reduces unnecessary investment in Ethernet switching, and prepares enterprises for the mobile workforce and ubiquitous cloud applications. Therefore, the system also supports mesh (wireless distribution mode) with a configurable number of radios participating in this backbone offering a 900Mbps up to 1.8Gbps wireless backbone.
